Nathan van Berlo, the assistant coach for Adelaide, says that following their Gather Round loss to Melbourne, the team and coaches are dissatisfied and frustrated.
The Demons at Adelaide Oval gave the Crows a fight, but in the end, they ran out of time and lost by a score of fifteen points.
Van Berlo stated in a Monday media appearance that the side’s form was inadequate.
“It (the form) can change quite quickly. We share the same frustrations and disappointments as our supporters,” van Berlo declared.
However, it’s how you channel that dissatisfaction and annoyance to understand what’s needed to elevate our game to the desired level.
“And to also realize that, this weekend or in the upcoming weeks, we will fight our way out of this.”
The Crows were unable to capitalize on their opportunities despite winning the inside-50s (54-48) and center clearances (12-7).
This week’s training sessions, according to Van Berlo, will prioritize developing abilities and connections before the ball.
Van Berlo stated, “To put it bluntly, we have to keep training it; it’s pretty obvious what is breaking down for us right now.”
“It all comes down to training; we need to make sure that we are putting in the maximum amount of time on the field.”
I can only talk from personal experience when I was playing and felt that the fundamentals were failing. During the week, I tried to touch as many footballs as I could under pressure, so that on game day on the weekend, I knew that I had done everything within my power.
“Everyone on our team is trying to execute those fundamentals and get better as fast as they can,” the coach said.
Van Berlo stated that Adelaide’s matchup with Carlton at Marvel Stadium on Saturday was
“When given the chance, they (Carlton) are winning some close games and playing some excellent footy right now,” van Berlo remarked.
“We are aware of the potential damage that their two twin towers present to the ball.” They have some large bodies in their midfield mix, which makes them difficult to counter.
“But we are aware that we possess it; the only thing left to do is to release it.”
At Marvel Stadium on Saturday at 4:05 PM (ACST), Adelaide takes on Carlton.
