If Rohan kept going in the same direction, Geelong Cats Assistant General Manager – Football Brett Johnson believes he should play this weekend.
“Gary has overcome the back problems that were preventing him from playing during the preseason,” Johnson stated.
“He will be able to play this week if he makes it through training.”
This week will mark Captain Patrick Dangerfield’s (hamstring) tryback to the field for the first time since Round 2. Dangerfield is also very close to returning.
“Pat looks fantastic right now. His rehabilitation has gone according to plan thus far, according to Johnson.
“He had an excellent session over the weekend in Adelaide. Similar circumstances will apply to Pat, who will train this week and take a test later in the week if everything checks out.
Veteran Cats Zach Tuohy (ankle) and Jake Kolodjashnij (quad) are also being tested after showing some mild symptoms during the team’s victory over the Western Bulldogs on Saturday.
Johnson stated, “Unfortunately, Zach Tuohy just tweaked his ankle throughout the game and was able to play out the game.”
“This week, he is scheduled to train and serve as a test.” Late in the game, “Kola” (Kolodjashnij) experienced some quad tightness. Thus, if he makes it through this week without any problems, he will be ready to play on Sunday against North Melbourne in the test.
Cameron Guthrie, who is still recovering from a quad injury, rejoined the main group for training last week.
“Cam is working out great. He treats his rehabilitation in a very professional manner, as I’ve mentioned before, Johnson added.
“We anticipate having Cam available for use for another two to four weeks.”
Both Mitch Edwards (back) and Joe Furphy (ankle) are making progress in their recuperation regimens.
Johnson expressed the Cats’ excitement about playing North Melbourne at GMHBA Stadium on Sunday.
“It’s wonderful to return to GMHBA Stadium; a lot has happened since we played here in Round 1 and it feels like a lifetime ago,” he remarked.
“I believe we’ve been able to build some excellent momentum during the season’s first half. We can’t wait to perform for the audience once more at GMHBA Stadium.
“We’re hoping to reach 90,000 members, so it will be fantastic for all of the Geelong Cats supporters here on Sunday. We currently have just over 70,000.”
